That's the best part. As long as you write the policy correctly it wouldn't matter. They have to show Scientific proof that the info was wrong. You can't go wrong with a scientific approach. Add that to a mandatory disclaimer for "news that's unverified and there you go!

Who is the decider for what constitutes science? What is the influence of time on this process?

Twitter has a version of it, the algorithm kind of pulls trolls away into their own universe. In this case it would be a way to structure the geometry of communication, and information. Like people who are often wrong get smaller and greyed out outside of their zone.

I like this a lot but uncomfortable with algorithms as the decider for who is wrong and who is not. Not all information or the proper interpretations of it are available to groups of humans, individuals, or algorithms programmed by either of those two. Hindsight is key.

I agree with the hindsight aspect. I think focus should be put on due diligence. Where the reporter MUST research and fact check the subject before reporting it. If they fail to do that THEN they get fined. That's my compromise anyway.

Yes I like that but I think it would be hard to enforce and could be negative externalities

It would be so much easier if they just had some integrity! LOL

Now that's a good question. What led to the downfall in integrity of those responsible for investigating societal truth? Why can't they step up to the challenge of investigating scientific truth?
