well, i'm just thinking that there's a whole lot of... anger... on the part of people who are being cancelled or shut up or disregarded - is there growing class consciousness? yes, it unites the right like taxes do, is it naturally aligned, i don't know, is it a historical actor?

the nice thing about the orthodox marxist conception of class is that it's parsimonious, one-dimensional (based on relation to capital), & more or less avoids value judgements. of course this also means it's not really adequate to partitioning cultural/subcultural groups

honestly more or less the same! not sure there's much of a difference other than whether you're into the idea of the labour aristocracy as a discrete class (the section of proletarians enjoying imperialist superprofits). still doesn't partition affective groups, though

marxism doesn't attempt to theorise the development of culture/sentiment outside class consciousness (which has a narrow meaning in the sense of consciousness orientated twds proletarian self-abolition)
