Wait, it's all of Alameda county now? I thought it was just Berkeley involved in this unmitigated stupidity. I wrote a letter to Berkeley's health officer asking her if the city's policy was informed by science or by the theatrical arts. Will let you know if she responds.

fwiw from my experience with plume physics (and I'be seen some papers, may dig them up as well) 6 feet is too short. I don't know how to choose a distance, 30 feet is on the safe side but actually impractical! I don't know what the actual best distance is. My gut says 15 feet
