not sure about best, or even if i'd put it in those terms, though i've resonated with taoist thought on the idea. i'm just me. i've always felt deeply female, but i've also wanted to live a life that expanded the concept of what a woman could do.

Why don’t I see more conversations like this? Am I not following the right people, is it rare? I always want to ask all these questions and dont know how to approach the topics tbh or who to ask.

I would love to! I have honestly spoken only once, in a deeper way, with a trans person, and it was all different than I had expected completely in so many ways.

Well, I think when you get the blessing of meeting someone who has transitioned, further when given the chance to spend a length of time talking together, you are being given a personal perspective from a very bright person. A daring person that integrity underlies all they do.

Well, here. This was as undergrad. I had no idea she was trans and just casually spoke. Then, learned from others that she indeed was a trans woman. Now, this is what bothered me. Everyone could tell you how amazing and brave she was, how special, they’d wear ally pins and /1

It's so hard for anyone to express themselves in modern society. people don't give each other space to believe in each other maybe. if we make that okay again, maybe with norms, maybe with visible role models, maybe with redesigned cyber spaces, that could help.

Whole movement has forced us to realize there are people we had just glossed over and ignored. But seems like it’s not the final step. What made the notion of a trans person, for me, just slide into everyday human existence casually, was learning: oh wow, that’s a person.

This is not me saying I didn’t consider trans people people. But putting something on a group level pedestal kind of robbed me of ability to connect, as someone without those experiences. Does this make sense?
