I want to clarify that this is not a thread that is aimed at the protestors. I'm not worked up at them any more than I was at the folks going back to work last month (scroll back on my feed). People gotta do what they feel they gotta do, & must take measures to mitigate.https://twitter.com/jonst0kes/status/1268983066640384009 …

I'm mad at the colossal public health comms fail on display. The stunning hypocrisy and innumeracy. PH experts are pretzeling & clowning themselves in order to actively encourage the exact risks they've spent months actively discouraging, & have adopted their opponents' arguments

I do think the protests are a spectacularly bad idea at this time, b/c they will probably spread the rona in a big way. I'm not trying to waffle or dissemble. But I'm not going to have at the protestors for disagreeing (tho I'm happy to have at the few nlooters & arsonists).

Honestly I don't think they really do. And there is no universe in which these police killing numbers stack up even a teeny tiny little bit to the COVID death numbers. None. Not even close. https://twitter.com/Mad_Science_Guy/status/1269019251828035585 …pic.twitter.com/eV342Kmqqr

I think you have to include deaths due to systemic oppression somehow (not 1/1) but even under that medical damage from the coronavirus is the thing that’s doing the damage!! aargh!!
