I want to love this tweet, but I’ve spent the past few months explaining to libertarians that going out isn’t a “personal risk.” You could become an asymptomatic spreader & put others at risk.
Now I get the same “my freedoms, my personal risk” about the protests.

I’ve brought this up for supporters of in-person protests. The response has been, “The lockdown was ending anyway.” Of course motivated cognition is going on, but I think public health folks might have failed to communicate how exponential phenomena work.

i’m pissed! The same institutions that completely fucked up the pandemic think that it’s over because it’s politically convenient. The same black lives that matter are going to be horribly damaged by the virus! there’s been no acknowledgment of the way that they failed
