instead of paywalls, how about we're asked to just take a selfie while doing a dance and tweet it. i don't know if it's as good economically, but it's more hilarious. yeah they need $$ somehow but subscriptions are vampiric and I don't like having so many.

Is this in ref to something specific? In general I’d rather pay for content if the maker is getting paid and/or if my data isn’t being used/sold/tracked/surveilled. “Free” costs way too much in the big picture. No selfies no dances no dna info, not from me.

it would be an option. information should have many ways of getting to people. it's definitely important to have a good option to not be tracked.

“Options” implies people have power/leverage, but most data gathering is an abuse of power. My feeling is that society should not make data available to a company if said society, which is facilitating that company’s very existence, doesn’t know how that data is being used.

Keep in mind, society doesn’t need any of these modern platforms. They’re frivolous and expendable and contribute nothing vital to society. Those companies need people way more than people need them.

yes, we need something way more about the real world. the whole lifeblood of this web 2.0 is advertising, and our attention is so fragmented, it's time to get back to basics.
