Tragedy.
The media job losses increase precarity, & precarity creates pressure on survivors to push to the center of the conventional wisdom herd. So job losses increase the herd mentality everyone complains of.

While I understand the sentiment, the feeling about this I've come around to is that we need a better plan for sustainable media than "find a billionaire owner who'll let you keep losing money."

But this lack of responsibility in media is a really big problem. Kudos for @alexismadrigal for changing course -- most journalists and almost all editorial boards have not done this.
