I've been looking at the Falcon 9 rocket. Understandably, everyone focuses on reuse. But in retrospect, the performance jump from v1.1 to Full Thrust is jaw-dropping. In a little more than two years SpaceX nearly DOUBLED the rocket's GTO capacity, from 4.8 tons to 8.3 tons.

Power of F9 today is still not widely understood. It has about same thrust as Delta IV Heavy, most powerful Boeing/Lockheed rocket. Falcon Heavy has triple.

But Elon, it's an RP-1 rocket. This kind of fuel is very heavy, and the engines are not as efficient as HydroLOX ones
