More than that, it actively stifles it. You cannot have organised creativity, it is an anathema. Modern China is a creative abyss, despite the clear individual intelligence of many Chinese people. Creativity is rebellion.

Would you really characterise it as creativity? There is certainly great industry and high production value. An interesting comparison is India and China. Two great civilisations that took very different paths. Indians responsible for astonishing level of creativity currently.

Definitely creativity. I've been in both places, in India creativity is everywhere, in China it erupts like a volcano in cracks in the tectonic plates of centralised control. This it's actually more intense in China.
