Nothing personal, but this is an extreme generalization of the type that was used to justify tinkering with coronavirus strains. "Humans have been performing genetic engineering for thousands of years" doesn't make the pandemic go away.

Also I don't know what "life is a gain function" means. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the specific hazards of tampering with pathogens to make them more contagious and deadly.

i definitely think we should *not* do that, but we should also no rule out geoengineering. actually an ice-age is quite nearly a possibility, and we should consider controlling it.

It has the same fundamental failing as what was done at the Wuhan lab: there's no limit to how much of the world it affects and it's not reversible. This is the equivalent of betting *all* of one's money in a single bet

not actually. you can use the kelly criterion here as elsewhere. in a time of great change, the only wrong move is to take no risk. a static strategy will surely perish.

you live only once. yet your actions ripple in eternity. with respect to "life is a gain function" here are three excellent references. https://www.amazon.com/What-Life-Lynn-Margulis/dp/0520220218 … https://www.amazon.com/What-Life-Matter-Autobiographical-Sketches/dp/B07M6ZSYS2/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=what+is+life&qid=1588860956&s=books&sr=1-1 … https://www.amazon.com/Sociobiology-New-Synthesis-Twenty-Fifth-Anniversary/dp/0674002350/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=eo+wilson+sociobiology&qid=1588861000&s=audible&sr=1-1-catcorr …

Okay, when I say geoengineering I mean giant projects like solar shades. Those are not kelly bets, because it's not like you can leave some part of the system untouched

my specific plan is loft nanopowdered Himalayan and Peruvian salt off their respective plateaus into the jet stream in order to temporarily reduce albedo & alter the electromagnetic / cloud seeding / precipitation dynamics aim is to trigger little ice age to stop permafrost melt

Not sure salty rain will be good for crops/vegetation.

there will be extremely little salt in it, it's just for nucleation.

I am suspicious of your lofting method and quantity of salt involved by your suggestion that plateaus are the source of the salt.
