A competent government would be able to eliminate the disease. Hong Kong claims to have done so in a few weeks. If true, their economy will likely be better in the long run as well. Good point raised in the comments: HK is arguably an example of a competent *society* as opposed to a competent state. Whereas NZ, SK, SG, AU may have both. Perhaps HK is the best model for the US decentralized response?
