We have a binary system. So a third party candidate only serves as a spoiler. Parliamentary systems are different.

i really think the strategic landscape has totally changed. a third party candidate, if that candidate was yang and factually brought together true UBI by summer, could win. perhaps easily. the RNC, the DNC, the media, congress, have never been so weak, and they can't operate

You’ve probably heard me quote Francis Bacon before, Danielle: That “Hope is a good breakfast, but a poor supper.”

you have good company! in fact inscrutability is a strategy. if it's really sure that we can't win, we can always throw in the towel. but even then we can usefully shape the debate.

How is your reading coming along, Danielle? ;-) I bear you no ill will. Quite the contrary. But I’ve been around the block more times than you can count or even imagine. It takes a lot to impress me.

Well, the good thing about youth is that everyone — well, some people, anyway — outgrow it... Intellectual humility is as much a key characteristic in the humanities as in the sciences. Possibly, more so...

hey, humility is a fine attribute, but if it rules out the only way i see forward it's out of balance. iterated over-humility gives you dunning kreuger cases like trump "running" the world. i'm simply stating there's a strategy here people have not anticipated, showing a way
