Problem is there is no mechanism to reel them in if they do become controlling. It isn't democratic. And even if you argue that it is democratic in a libertarian sense insofar as we vote with our dollars, monopoly on goods required for survival would inhibit that.

democracy failed. we don't have democracy. i agree that we need a new system, but throwing rocks at amazon when it's like, the most functioning thing in the economy, seems off i'm sure

I'm not sure doing things organically is enough to guarantee freedom. However, I'm happy to admit democracy doesn't necessarily do so either, and that Amazon is a well oiled machine, much more so than the U.S. government. If it did it better, which is possible, I'd consider it.
