This is where a good portion of my mind is headed, tempered with the need to stay in the moment and acknowledge that things are indeed challenging for so many.

And something about that just feels off. It feels too early still. Or maybe tamper the enthusiasm with a hint of realism - or acknowledge the necessity of change that is being created by collective pain. But somehow just embracing opportunity feels off. 2/2

i think we do need to accept that there is an enormous challenge and pain ahead, fight against the tragedy of death, and at the same time recognize that we are in this because of a broken system, and if we succeed, we can, truly, build a better world

I don't really get this 'it's too early' concept. It presumes a synchronisation of time that I don't recognise. Some of us started thinking about the opportunities amid collapse decades ago, some haven't started yet.

Say goodbye to loved ones over FaceTime and doctors are having to choose who dies. It’s about tampering the enthusiasm about the opportunities arising out of this specific event to honor the fact that many are still suffering. 2/2

I don't understand how you would apply this argument in practice. When do you know it is time for more enthusiasm? I think there is a way of communicating my authentic experience (e.g. joy, enthusiasm, optimism) as it happens, while being considerate of other people's grief.

And admittedly, I’m not doing the best job articulating myself here. What I’m after is that balance you’re talking about
