If I were designing a virus to infect the entire world, I'd somehow make sure it was asymptomatic until everyone had it. If I couldn't do that, I'd make it mild or asymptomatic in children, who attend mass gatherings every day and who keep their parents home when visibly sick.

I would engineer the portion of the spike protein that infects T-cells so that it had 100% amino acid homology to the homologous HIV protein region. However, I'd make sure that the nucleic acid homology for the region was very low, to avoid suspicion.
