The biggest problem around identity is not the politics, it's the psychology. People invent these categories that just completely fail to make the right distinctions and then just rebuild their entire entire psyche around treating those categories as central to their identity.

This is one reason I dislike self-identifying. I try to stay anomalous and liquid but at the same time with a core of defined reasoning and operation. It's a difficult balance. But it has allowed me to remove society's labels of me and find my authentic self.
