As a footnote to everything going on: universal *catastrophic* health insurance, like famous socialist Barry Goldwater advocated 50 years ago, would be really helpful right now.

One gargantuan failure of the American system is that we don't have insurance systems calibrated to entirely foreseeable situations like 2020. There's no reason in principle we can't -- we do hurricane coverage pretty well. But the way we finance medicine is insane.
