Look into @AnandWrites. Read his book.
Investigate the 40s, 50s, 60s of American wealth distribution. Then investigate today.
It's absolutely sickening how many people in this thread literally don't have a clue. It's sickening because the results are on the streets of SF.

I totally agree that the wealth inequality is an absurd problem. 99% of it needs to get overwritten, but like, Elon and Jeff deserve credit for fucking standing up through all of this -- alongside our hermits, monks, unemployed, etc. Trump too, if he really fights this.

I'm honestly not as eloquent as i used to be on this topic. I *strongly suggest* you read to Anand's book Winner Takes All.

I don’t actually find this near as much of a problem as most of the solutions which end up giving everyone much more even pieces of a much smaller pie. Socialism eliminates income inequality at the expense of income, making everyone equally poor.

Even Bernie isn't advocating for true socialism. He's taken the name to defuse the lies. He's advocating for a fairer distribution curve. If you're not an owner, it's not fair. Even VP roles get screwed.

Bernie has been a lifelong Marxist and has called for nationalization of most of the major industries over his career.

anyone saying anyone is a "ist" isn't getting it that goes for people saying "trumpist" means anything too it doesn't! things are totally dynamic now, we need to let go of the past listen to Bernie directly from decades ago you will hear a sane being fighting for the future

When arguing hot button issues. Don't assume good faith arguments. Plenty of people don't realize that they're just repeating someone else's talking points and not actual facts on the issue.

Don't assume bad faith either! I always engage honestly and sincerely at least 4 times.

I don't assume bad faith. I just don't assume their points. But typically I find a deep construction of lies when you give someone an inch of 'benefit of the doubt'. Watch Bannon, he's good at manipulating that 'little ground'.

well, the work that I do involves engaging with the actual humans, be the Bill Gates Peter Thiel Vinod Khosla Elon Musk or Donald Trump.
I find actual humans infinitely more complex than people's renderings of each other, because we never give credit for context or intention.

Those mentions are great people and I admire them too. But a giving the greater context of this thread, giving them higher taxes on their actual wealth will help create a better American society. We are beginning to enter a new phase of society. Unequal even past 1920s.
