Let's talk about school closures re COVID-19. It's a tough topic, scientifically and pragmatically. It's hard to estimate the benefits precisely. And closing schools can have costs, such as health care workers having to stay home, kids missing subsidized lunches, etc. 1/

School sucks anyway! People need to stay with their families for 40 days, the length of a quarantine, the length of lent. It won’t be so bad!

schools are a huge cost, the reason it seems so high of a cost now is because suddenly the amortized cost of schools over a hundred years is being spread out over the next few months
