there's even more if you pull the number of likes down... https://twitter.com/search?q=from%3Adaniellefong+min_faves%3A30+since%3A2020-01-01 …

also idk what you mean with this tweet
but if you search @DrEricDing's *handle* (not his name) then you get lots of tweets by him. still the CDC banner at the top, but it doesn't look like censorship https://twitter.com/DanielleFong/status/1231266425161080832 …pic.twitter.com/sBt4a6Kp3y

It’s a form of censorship of the obvious searches don’t work or misrepresent you. It’s also a form of censorship if your tweets and notifications have an imposed latency of 20m. Think of how infuriating latency is on long distance calls!

agreed on the latency I think the search thing is actually true of everyone. if I search `Malcolm Ocean` the first results are people @-mentioning me or talking about me. Same if I search `Malcolm Ocean meta` or `
@Malcolm_Ocean meta` whereas `from:malcolm_ocean meta` gets mepic.twitter.com/aEmdoIQ6pX

Oh actually when I search
@DrEricDing's handle & coronavirus, then I actually do get tweets from him. So he's actually less censored in this sense than *I* am.https://twitter.com/Malcolm_Ocean/status/1232555340354461698/ …Malcolm 🌎cean added,

So: I agree that these search results phenomena are confusing, & potentially misleading (CDC doesn't seem particularly trustable) but it seems risky to use "censorship" for this when it seems to be business as usual. It dilutes the term "censorship" & gives off a paranoid vibe

Not saying I think you *are* paranoid, but your claims here gave me that impression to some extent, which is why I'm taking the time to explain why this is happening, so that other people reading this thread can see that this is more of an idiosyncrasy with Twitter's search

Umm... if people think you're paranoid, they will push away from what you're trying to care about, rather than working to develop solutions. This is not a shouting contest—we need to be strategic.

not fair to say i'm shouting. just trying to get messages past the censorship and cognitive filters (which are even more pernicious!) and into minds. it does not need to convince now -- just planting seeds for later.
