And multiple people have pointed out to you it was not *only* about the specific R0 number but *his misunderstanding & misrepresentation of what it meant.* I explained this once to you and you called me petty so while I have a lot of patience, I'm coming to the end of it here.

I'm sorry, but this allegation about the R0 number was false. The allegation that he is "a nutritionist" is false. These are false, and they have not been corrected or their falsehood even acknowledged by people who are so ostensibly obsessed with accuracy & quality communication

"Nutrition scientist"--would that appease you? And the R0 was not correct at the time of publication and again, not only about the number but the nonsensical "never seen an actual virality coefficient outside of Twitter in my entire career" and terrifying people.

How about "epidemiologist," because he has two doctoral degrees and one of them in epidemiology.

Which has led to a lot of misrepresentation of his expertise, which is the exact problem under discussion. I asked him to acknowledge his lack of expertise in infect disease in the twitter thread he was snitch-tagged into of mine, & he refused to do so.

I think we've reached the point where we're going in circles. I follow/RT/learn from a lot of ppl on here re: COVID19 who are in different disciplines. Some adjacent, some not. Eric is one of them, & he's more adjacent that many. I just am not seeing that he's as unqualified...

...as you're trying to represent. Furthermore, I feel like there's a bunch of professional jealousy and name calling around this that I loath and that sets me off.

Maybe because you do not understand the nuances of the field? Many of those calling him out have more media appearances already than we can possibly fill--I've turned down/passed on a dozen this week alone. /1

We don’t care about the ‘nuances.’ You are useless effetes if you can’t help. People are looking for ways to protect themselves, families & communities & don’t want lectures about derivations of the name of the virus & disease. We demand workable plans to prevent DEATH!

But there is nuance to the field, whether you like it or not. Putting people in quarantine or isolation--different things. Understanding viral mutation or what changes in genetic sequences mean--nuance. They may not matter to you but some people *want* to understand the science.
