Finally, you're trying to get ppl not to signal boost Eric for professional turf reasons, meanwhile some of the ppl you yourself are signal boosting are legitimately bad actors on here. Their behavior is exceedingly boorish & bullying, & they spread their own type of misinfo.

Sigh. It is not for "turf" reasons. Why do you keep referring to that? Seems more like projection than anything when I've explained this in depth.

Perhaps, but this is what it looks like. It looks like a pissing match. I'm so sorry, I really am because I believe that you do not believe that's what this is. But to literally everyone who has ever witnessed pissing contest, we are pattern matching at like 90% here.

The idea that this one guy is a big fat menace to professional ID twitter is bananas. The continued obsession with him... it just really has all the hallmarks of a turf war. I dunno what else to tell you. It looks hella bad.

Professional ID twitter is just fine. It's the general public I'm concerned about, because he is being used as a subject matter expert by over 80k followers & by media sources who don't know when he's wrong or exaggerating & when he's not. That's a huge problem.

And it causes huge problems when the public decide someone without relevant expertise is an expert on a topic. See: Jenny McCarthy.

People are going to try to find sources that confirm their fears and beliefs. It doesnt matter who the person is but as long as they are pushing what they believe to be going on, they will defend said person. It is very similar to cults.

It's why it's so important to re-direct to the practical information. Infection prevention, disaster preparation and the reasons they need to do it. As far as the public is concerned, that is all that matters.

And Doctors using terms like "thermonuclear bad" are exactly what the public does not need.

The problem is all the mixed messages they are getting. A unified front is needed here so people don't sit around doubting everything. We need a calm rational strategy on how to handle the situation. I hope everyone can sit down, agree and get back to work.

we need to move the Overton window to flush the trolls out. China, stop interfering in public discourse on the coronavirus or be engaged.

Correct. As of now there is practically no Overton window at all and that is a problem. Everything is all over the place and it's causing chaos. It must be re-established
