@neva9257 isn’t a virologist. These link reveal , at best, that he is an ethicist, which is important work. I am mystified that you believe that his opinion is more valid than @DrEricDing ‘s .

I'm not a virologist either. I'm an infectious disease epidemiologist. The difference is that Nicholas and I both have a background studying & publishing on infectious diseases & emerging viruses as his publications demonstrate.

Tara, you seem like a good-faith actor, so why do you signal boost name-calling misinfo spreaders like Nicholas and his wife? I've asked repeatedly why he continues to spread falsehoods about Ding & he ignores it? And Kelly's behavior on here is outrageous. Why signal boost it?

All I do on here is try to get accurate information out there, discuss good sources of information & how to find them. I generally believe in gentle correction but I don't tone-police others. I understand some will dismiss the science b/c of tone but that's beyond me to admonish.

How can you say you believe in gentle correction while signal boosting people with misrepresent, call names, and behave in ways that very obviously petty and bullying? Why do that?

Will you at least address the fact that Nicholas refuses to correct his falsehoods to the effect that Eric spread a retracted R0 number (he did not) and is "a nutritionist" (he is not)? Are you just going to be silent on this and keep RTing him and liking his tweets?

Starting to wonder if these anti-
@DrEricDing folks are some of the 1,000 + ‘scientists’ who were involved in the Harvard / Lieber scandal of traitorous scientists on China’s payroll?1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

For serious? AFAIK none of the people in this conversation have ever worked for Harvard. Or studied there. We’ve all got CVs, you can look us up. Hell, you were looking me up hours ago.

You aren’t a virologist. Your opinion on such matters is open to review and disagreement. Stop misrepresenting your authority on he subject.

You can see the issue with that logic as you’re defending some one who actually misrepresented his authority on infectious diseases (of which is the whole frustration for so many in the ID/EID field). Nick *actually* is an expert on biosecurity…

This is total trollish behavior I have seen out of China. It is just to attack credibility. Tell me, why might China interfere with an American telling the world about a dangerous virus?
