I've just never understood why some countries "should" be fiscally more responsible for something that's everyone's issue.

Just, imaginably, since the Canadian government is throwing money around to help people get mortgages and so on, it could lead with it. I would prorate with USA to population and go in with the EU 50:50 as a bloc.

I mean, I suppose if we're only talking about the Western world, then sure... but I think the UN could make a call for funds and all members can chip in. There's plenty of vested interest around the globe.

Agreed! I just know dumping money on a problem rarely gets the desired results, and that money quickly disappears when too many government hands are involved.

agree, we just need a serious increase in capacity at this point. WHO underprovisioned by like 10x at least

I am hoping that individual prep can help fill the gap between an outbreak and the arrival of large scale help. In a large outbreak, no one can expect them to be everywhere at once. Add to that the fact that they ARE under provisioned already and people could be waiting a while

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/02/12/health/coronavirus-test-kits-cdc.amp.html … faulty kits and an instruction NOT to use on asymptomatic cases ? Perhaps I’m being a little unfair on China not identifying cases. Discuss.

I really don't know what to make of it. If it was just one screw up I would chalk it up to that. How do you "switch the labels" when testing someone in quarantine? The person just walked back into that military base and it was over 24 hours before they realized the "mistake"

right. CDC trains their people to take the numbers and multiply by 5-6 and assume that's what they are dealing with. A woman told the senate that today. Makes sense.
