twitter fam, those of you who work in the nebulous space between video games, VR/AR, experiential and immersive. What do we call ourselves? Purveyors of Interactive Entertainment? What is it? Do we have a name?

Disney Imagineers might do some eyebrow-raising at that, though they're part of us too. :P

I use creators as a term then specify: * Experiential? * Interactive? * Immersive? * XR or some hybrid of reality? It is a form of magic, but I do not like referring to myself as any sort of magician in public. Too many expectations. Our artists

fair, but what about those of us who support, produce, exhibit, or distribute, or fund those creators? There's an ecosystem around this now (and soon to be larger one I hope!) so wondering if we've found better ways of expressing what it is we all do.

wow, that's really big; maybe we need 2 names for 2 concepts

Haha, perhaps. I'm more curious about how people have been calling themselves than actually finding the 'right' nomenclature. I don't think there's a perfect one for now as the industry rearranges itself and borrows/steals etc.

it's like it's 'reality creation' but that even those who support the creators or participate in it are 'cotravellers' or are helping invoke or channel this reality into being a concrete, shared experience. the verb is as to listen to someone speak, or to see as they paint

Many fascinating works in art & interactive design engage collaborative exploration, experimentation & a willingness to transcend constraints & share experiences in the moment. Constraints are necessary in worldbuilding to shop & ship a story. Participation points wildly vary.
