Partly inspired by @albrgr's tweets, I dug a little more into recent findings on the relationship between air pollution and cognition. The effects seem rather amazingly large: https://patrickcollison.com/pollution .

An interesting tension: to lower CO2, it's easiest to open the windows. To lower PM2.5, it's easiest to close the windows, and filter your inside air. I presume a solution is to have a proper (but likely very expensive?) inlet system that keeps CO2 down & filters PM2.5.

Something i’ve been wanting to do for a while: a big counterflow heat exchanger for building air and a good controller. You can keep heat or cool in, but you can also cycle the air. Worth redesigning the whole building around it for the potential savings.

Obviously you also want a filter, but there’s also a good place to put a heat pump in the topology I have in mind
