You're missing the point. Everything of value has some sort of competition. And anything of value is solving a problem other products also solve. Yes, do it in a different way or with a different perspective. But it's gotta be a problem people care about.

When netflix launched streaming, blockbuster had streaming. People wanted streaming. There was tons of competition. What part are you challenging and agreeing with? lol

Technology limitations in 1999. Cost of building/offering/running. Licensing limitations. There's articles, podcasts, and books about it.

maybe its "product" i have a problem with? obviously nobody wants something that doesn't have value, except... value is particularly relative when its not at scale. i may value a piece of garbage nobody else wants, but it "fills a need" for me
