We use Akismet to help check for bot & spam subscribers to ConvertKit opt-in forms. For a few years we've paid $1,000/mo for an enterprise plan. But every 6 months or so a billing glitch puts us on the $50/mo plan. We notice when we do our books, send them an email, they fix it.

After this happened for the 4th time we just ignored it. If they can't fix their bad billing code, it's not our problem. After about 5 months of us paying $50/mo they just sent an email saying we had downgraded ourselves and they'd kick us off the platform if we didn't pay up.

Curious: was the email from them automated or clearly from a human? Just wondering about where the lapse happened.

We’ve been hearing a lot of folks wishing they had a single feed of all customer touchpoints for these sort of situations. So you could see the history of support tickets before sending that message. Help Scout does something like this well.
