I've known @FABNEWYORK Fab5Freddie for over 30 years and helped Bernard get his 13 year sentence for possession of 2 joints found when he was stopped and searched for riding his bike the wrong way on a 1 way street in New Orleans. It is so nice to see them build Be Noble.

this is awesome, and good for them, but propagating the lie that anyone gets 13 years for two joints is irresponsible (the system is just locking up black people). I don't have access to his file but I sure as hell know there's a lot more than "two joints". (1 of 2)

I’m sympathetic to your reaction but in this case, he was sentenced based on a repeat offender statute and we did confirm this fact before helping with the case. I totally agree and share the view that reforms should be consistent with public safely objectives.

so he was sentenced based upon previous felony(ies), not "two joints".

His most recent prior was when he was 24 years old. He was 48 when arrested and ultimately sentenced to 13 years but yes. We were also successful in changing the laws in the state of LA such that marijuana convictions can not be amplified based on prior convictions
