okay so i looked it up. labor day is where federal leadership acknowledges that worker conditions suck, and then go back to doing nothing to improve them for the rest of the year. also 10% off in shops, go buy stuff i guess

it's also pointedly at the opposite end of the year from Labor Day in much of the rest of the world (May 1st), which nominally celebrates the same things but is endorsed by regimes the US doesn't like. we personally feel this casts doubt on the sincerity of the US holiday.

they replaced real may 1 labor day in the US with Loyalty Day, which fortunately no one remembers
