It's easy to paint Cloudflare's decision to provide security services to all on an equal basis, without regard to content, as a principled stand in favor of content neutrality. It's a cheap and intellectually lazy painting, but an easy one. 'Neutrality' is not neutral here.

They're not even neutral, they've kicked sites that cater to sex workers off their service in the past for ToS violations. Their CEO is just a facist and likes KF

Cloudflare provides censored DNS as a service. It 'mistakenly' blocked almost all LGBTQ content at launch. They had to apologize for it. It still blocks a lot of it. twitter.com/DanielMicay/st Why did that happen? Some sources for the list are far right evangelical organizations.

I know several people working as software engineers at Cloudflare. According to one of them, this incident (blog.cloudflare.com/the-mistake-th) was hardly a mistake. Cloudflare is including block lists sourced from far right evangelical groups as part of their 'family friendly' DNS service.

I think if they want to portray themselves as a free speech service they should stop providing censored DNS as a service and shouldn't ban completely legal sites used by sex workers while not banning nazis and doxxing sites. Claiming KF is lower risk is a weak talking point.
