He has moved on from just the professor thing to also simultaneously responding "Free Palestine!" when I talk about rockets while visiting my grandma, which is funny because I actually do want Palestinian autonomy and self-determination and reparations

I'd still prefer a single democratic state with explicit protections for all groups indigenous to the land encoded in the constitution but also my view is a fringe minority view among Jewish Israelis and I can't magically change all of public opinion and policy

The West Bank started out being annexed by Jordan with full citizenship and representation in parliament with the caveat that it's still a true monarchy. It could have worked out fine but Jordan decided they'd help Egypt in the Six Day War and Israel controlling it split them up.

They would need to hold elections in both Gaza and the West Bank where they elected a government with serious interest in peace and forming a state. Israeli settlements are essentially Israel's right wing trying to block Israel from a peace deal with a theoretical future state.

Not really the blocker in the present. Them pulling out of the West Bank completely like they did in Gaza isn't going to result in there being a unified Palestinian state and especially not a democratic one. They can't finish a civil war due to geography so it's stuck that way.
