does anyone know of a good cloud service with apple m1 machines, preferably with transparent pricing? something like digital ocean, where you actually know how much you're paying. i know AWS has them, but ummm... i'm always leery of their pricing model.

hetzner.com/dedicated-root is a fixed monthly cost with a one-time setup fee with unmetered bandwidth. Hetzner dedicated servers are also a really good deal, especially if you're comparing to AWS / GCP / Azure but even compared to OVH, etc. for the most part.

that's... actually incredible, considering it's $1/h on AWS for a mac m1 mini....

Hetzner keeps around their servers for many years via their server auction system. They have insanely good prices for dedicated servers. OVH has better pricing for bandwidth but Hetzner is unbeatable for dedicated server pricing and bang for buck for anything needing lots of CPU.
