Does it have a cheap Chinese SoC like UNISOC? I think they may have misunderstood the assignment for their implementations of those modes.

it's a snapdragon so i wouldn't expect it to be an issue... but for some reason, the night mode seems to stitch together a few images very poorly.

I don't think Qualcomm provides a Night mode implementation for vendors to use yet even with the latest generation SoC. It's something your OEM must have created on their own. Qualcomm will probably provide one via Camera2 / CameraX vendor extensions in the future, probably 2023.
