i've been using it ever since he suggested it and i'm in love with it!! i want to help contribute to it too i've checked out the code and i'm very good at onboarding myself

Ideally it would have a non-LGPL3 spellchecking implementation available so we could include it in GrapheneOS as the default keyboard. It's also missing some features provided by AOSP keyboard and we need to have feature parity with those in order to replace it.

We didn't block anything. GrapheneOS uses permissive licensing for all of our own work and can't include GPLv3 / LGPLv3 code because the licensing is overly restrictive and forbids important use cases. It would make the overall project significantly more restrictively licensed.
