There are a whole bunch of other aftermarket operating systems like ProtonAOSP, DivestOS, LineageOS, etc. CalyxOS is not a hardened OS like GrapheneOS. It rolls back security from the stock OS. It recently went 4 months without shipping Chromium and Android security updates.

GrapheneOS provides substantial privacy and security improvements to the OS (grapheneos.org/features). Some of our privacy/security features have been accepted into AOSP and shipped to billions of Android users. It's largely a privacy/security research and development project.
