Have your even read the link ? they did update the phones, your comment is provably wrong. How is Pixel6 better when the track record is PIxel3 / 3 years ?

Hmm fairphone3 updated should be updated in 2022, it was updated late 2021 (claimed at least https://fairphone.com/en/2021/09/02/fairphone-3-update/…), that's already better than Pixel3 for all I know. Else fair enough, personally this made me switch to Apple unfortunately, less e-waste. Priorities..
Fairphone hasn't ever provided security updates for more than around 2 years, and those security updates have always been late, inconsistent and often incomplete. Devices without security updates aren't safe to use. Even the older Qualcomm Pixels provided far longer real support.
Even if you ignore security support, shipping an update released several years ago today hardly qualifies as providing years of extra support. Security support is needed to safety use devices, and not shipping OS updates on time despite early access is also not proper support.
Pixel 6 has a minimum guarantee of 5 years of actual support where it receives security support. Fairphone is unable to provide support longer than Qualcomm,. They greatly mislead people about the sustainability of their devices and their lifetimes. That's not a positive thing.
Fairphone using a year old revision of an outdated SoC platform means that instead of being able to provide 4 years of security support they're stuck with 2 to 3 years instead, and it's quite possible it will only be 2 years. Their track record is that they won't even do that.
Fairphone has chosen the SoC for their devices. It's their choice to use a past generation SoC. They could have still shipped each security and OS update on time or at least within a month. They do try to make devices repairable and *some* materials are obtained more ethically.
