Vesync app for managing the humidity level of my humidifier advertises french fry recipes, tries to get you to input room layout information for your home and just added a feature for identifying species of plants. I wish it just had buttons for changing the humidity level...

I'm entirely serious. Why is there a button for identifying plants? I seriously just bought the recommended pick at nytimes.com/wirecutter/rev and it's a wonderful humidifier but this stuff is insane. Can add triggers like raising humidity to 80% when your french fries are cooked.

They have it set up so you can manage a hundred of their devices across a bunch of rooms in multiple homes with complex interactions. Why even trigger something other than the humidifier based on humidity, or change humidity based on a coffee machine?

If someone uses espresso machine in home B, raise humidity in home C to 80% and turn off lights in home A. This is definitely an entirely reasonable thing to have developed and shipped to people.
No clue why the app has Mayo Clinic recipes. Most don't advertise their products.
