It will always be hilarious to me that this is one of the accepted ways to describe why you're entitled to register a .ca domain. I'd prefer not to be interrogated by the RCMP about why I said I was the Queen of Canada. Hard to resist finding out what happens if you select it.

I believe that the queen refers to the queen of England, if I remember foreign history correctly.

It refers to Canada's head of state by their official title. Canada has been an independent country for a long time but it's still a constitutional monarchy rather than a republic. Replacing monarchy with an elected president taking over the largely ceremonial role is overdue.

Until then, I'll get a laugh out of the concept of Canada's queen personally registering .ca domains. Soon she'll be dead and they'll need to update it to refer to Charles. Hopefully support for the monarchy will die off pretty quickly at that point. It's genuinely ridiculous.
