just removed my $100/month patreon subscription from after learning they all deeply support cryptocurrency. i really thought this was the one place creating actually decentralized infrastructure to protect people and enable political activism. as usual, i was too naive.

I'm sorry to hear that. I think "deeply support" is an overly strong label. None of the tech we build is cryptocurrency focused, and is all open, decentralized, p2p and private. We accept cryptocurrency donations because without them we would simply be unable to do that work.

We depend on Bitcoin/Monero for since the majority of donations are made through them and we need them to transfer funds to developers.
TransferWise isn't always an option and depends on people giving us personal information. Stripe is similar and takes a huge cut.
I've found traditional financial services to be very slow and unreliable. They often freeze funds and we've had developers and collaborating projects/companies deal with having transfers/accounts frozen for long periods of time. Stripe disallows anything to do with telephony...

They really treat this to being suspicious about anything to do with phones. It also applies to Shopify, Mastercard, Visa, PayPal, etc. Go through the other stuff on their restricted list too.
