It's definitely better since you get a dramatically better fit from those reusable silicone masks and it's also a lot cheaper. Only issue is they typically have an exhaust which makes it a lot more comfortable but reduces how well it protects others. Still far better than cloth.

Exhaust is easy to cover with a cloth filter. Can also block the exhaust and take out the inhalation valves to have N95 filtered exhaust but that's not very comfortable due to humidity. Might as well use exhaust with cloth cover since most people are using cloth masks anyway.
If you want to get fancy, 3M makes the model 604 exhale filter snap-on for 6000 series half-face masks.
