Wondering where all this "Oh noes the poors will be confused if we let them have access to cryptocurrency, we have decide what they should have access to" energy was when I lost almost all my income for years due to demanding I get Outed quietly.

I think a lot of the stated goals of crypto are good actually. That includes finances for everyone etc. The issue is crypto brings no actual, practical, long term solutions to those problems. Things only worked for a little while until the government decided to do something.

Most of the rules are unstated and people aren't given any recourse. Their accounts / funds are locked and they no longer have the income they need to survive. Easy for people unlikely to ever experience that to say that people should just use these broken, biased services.

Most the things they ban and the transactions/accounts they freeze are not even illegal. It's their own moralizing. They go far beyond what they're legally required to enforce. It would be a huge problem even if they stuck to what they're required to do but they go far beyond it.
