I prefer open back headsets since it doesn't muffle your voice and they're far more comfortable to wear for a long period of time. SteelSeries unfortunately only makes closed back headsets. Been very happy with drop.com/buy/massdrop-x since 2018. Braided wire doesn't bother me.

Most gaming headsets are closed back so open vs. closed back isn't usually something that's mentioned or discussed. SteelSeries doesn't mention it since they don't provide a choice. It's something worth taking into account based on personal preference / environmental properties.
