Just discovered that Canada has a very broad law that bans the public carrying of many types of knives, such as folding knives, that could be used as a weapon. However the law has an *explicit* carve-out for sword canes

It's similarly okay to own and carry around a crossbow as long as it's at least 50cm long. It's the same as the rules about knives/swords. Can't carry it around for use as a weapon. They have far stricter rules about pepper spray than bows, knives and swords.

They'd probably change that pretty fast if people started frequently killing each other with crossbows and swords but I don't think there's much chance of that happening. It's easy for people to get guns from the US anyway. Some of the laws about it are pretty silly stuff.
