More importantly, why does LinkedIn have a button called "Add Hashtag" which just inserts a # character into the text field?

I thought it was going to add some kind of structured metadata to the post and did a serious double take when it just inserted the # character.
I've only ever used it for getting information on people's roles at companies and cross-posting GrapheneOS release announcements...
