Foundation is so tedious and takes itself far seriously for such an uninspired show. There's nothing compelling beyond the expensive visuals. Even the positive reviews admit it's boring. I'd be far more entertained watching The Expanse or Dark Matter again from the beginning.

Asimov's Foundation was always boring. Majestic, and head-scratching, and inspirational, but boring.
Those qualities are mainly aspirational, in the case of the show. But I'm enjoying the fan service.

My hot take is that it's the Lord of the Rings of Sci-Fi. Everything is based off it, but the original is exactly what you said. The best adaptions will be the ones that take the most liberties with the source material.

I should have been a gritty political drama with some espionage later on when the traders come into play. It feels so empty and I do not care for any characters at all. A few buzzwords from the original and not much else.
