Don't really have a particular recommendation. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses. Signal is the best way to onboard all your non-technical contacts onto end-to-end encrypted messaging. Most people aren't willing to even make another account so Signal helps a lot.
There's also Molly as a hardened variant of Signal with enhanced security features. It's fully compatible with it. It's developed by someone in the GrapheneOS community.
