Can use those elsewhere too via ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini: [Settings] gtk-key-theme-name = Emacs I don't like the Emacs-style keybindings but this is pretty much mandatory so C-w is delete-backwards-word in Chromium / GTK instead of delete-super-important-window-or-tab.

If you really want to have proper keybindings, bind Caps Lock to the Control key. I've been so brain damaged by extensive use of Vim that I use the vi keybinding mode in Zsh with the mode in prompt. Standard C-[ (using escape is silly) to enter command mode and extra keybinds.
