just an fyi: if you use an android phone, you can disable notifications from all incoming calls except from those in your contact list

you have to turn "do not disturb" on, then click "allow exceptions", and set "calls from" to "contacts only", and you can also enable repeat callers (so someone not in contacts can get in touch, but most spam won't).

i hate how ~95% of all phone calls these days are spam.

I gave up on phone calls. It helps that I barely get cell reception and I haven't switched to modern plan with VoWiFi. Not initializing voicemail is the key. Even the Canadian government knows how to send me an email and they can't even run a website more than 21 hr / day.
I think ~40% of the phone calls I get are my bank trying to sell me insurance or loans, another ~40% are scams and the rest are mostly people calling the wrong number.

Did I tell you about the time someone called me super angry at 7:30 in the morning? Then yelled at me via text about how it was really ungracious I had locked her outside of the building, assuming I was the office staff?

Yeah, I use my phone to call my grandparents once every week, and that's about it... I also explicitly have my inbox full (haven't cleared it since 2012), so...

My parents are in their early 70s (they had me in their mid 40s) and both hate talking on the phone too. I could probably get them to use Matrix since I'm really tired of emails. Both of them are pretty technical.
